Stock photography, again...

Today I have uploaded my first set of images to a stock photo website.  Now for the wait on tenterhooks to find out if they will be approved.

Stock photography is a pretty difficult area to get into, with images not just being taken, but made, and while there are a gazillion things to take pictures of, you have to be quite careful about what you photograph, and how you "market" it.  I'm really hoping that these images are accepted.  I was gutted when my first attempt at this many years ago was met with complete failure.

This photograph was taken at the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial in Albany, Western Australia.  It held me captivated for a long time, with all its detail. Lest we forget. A memorial for the ANZAC's who fought for this beautiful country.

The new school year has started

DS has started Kindy this year, and while I thought there may be some issues with him "missing" me during the day, he has sailed through them happily, to the point he doesn't even wait for me to settle him in class.  He loves his new teacher and he has really embraced it.  Although, I am sure that he would happily attend 5 days a week, rather than the 5 days per fortnight.

DD has also settled in class, although she seems to be battling a little with finding her space properly.  I'm hoping that this will settle soon too and that she would become her usual happy little lady.

I have decided that this year I would like to put together some inspirational desktop wallpapers so I will keep you up to date with this.  I will be posting them onto my KSP website though rather than here.  I will create a like to it on the side though.  While this one won't make the ranks of wallpaper, it could end up in a printable bookmark or devotional type card set :)

Relaxing time

It's been a pretty stressful last week or so.  We had rental inspection to prepare for, and then there was a home open where prospective tenants were to come and see our current home to rent.  We are moving south of the river at the end of the month, so it's been a rough little while.  I have been packing slowly, and would be about 4 days ahead of where I am, if it weren't for the inspection.  But, I have decided that if I get 4 boxes packed each day, it is manageable, without leaving Josh to his own devices for too long, and I can get through the bulk of the packing before crunch time.

THE BIN

So, to relax this evening, I spent that time behind the sewing machine, repairing clothing (the repair pile has a habit of growing quickly), finishing some shorts I had started for Clo, and then also experimenting (the fun part).
So, I ended up making this cool fabric "bin" from the offcuts of a pair of jeans I altered, and also a tissue cover prototype. It was a first attempt and it worked well.  A few adjustments needed to be made but I am happy overall.  And feeling a bit more relaxed now.

~ 2010 ~ a new adventure

If 2009 was a blur then I am hoping that 2010 will be an awesome adventure, and hopefully one which moves a little more sedately and certainly not so stressfully.

If I look back on last year, everything seemed to be a rush, and with a few wheels falling off, I managed to limp to the finish line, collapsing into bed at 9:30pm on New year’s eve.  And don’t laugh, I know a good few people who did just about the same thing.

My photography started to take off nicely and I did a few weddings, including that of my dear brother Rob and his beautiful bride Wendy.  I think of all the weddings I will ever photograph, that will be my all time favourite.

Going forward, I am going to really leap into the business of photography, grasping it with both hands and taking it on as a full time project.  It will require some sacrifices from both Paul and I, which we have already started gearing up for, but in the grander scheme of things, I am positive that God will bless this passion of mine and it will be more than a “sacrifice”.

My little baby have blossomed into a toddler beautifully and every day with her is an adventure.  She has become a real little girl, which includes being “scared” of mud, although with much coaxing, I managed to get her squish her toes in it.  In less than a month’s time she will be 2 years old, which is a frightening thought, again, last year went by too fast.

I intend to be more active in updating this space more often this year, so watch this space J

Happy 2010 to everyone!

Sunday morning...

Well, it was our first official fellowship at St Agnes today. It was awesome to be at church as a family again and to feel relaxed and with my husband. It's different to Vineyard but it is good too. I miss my friends at Vineyard, but it was a necessary move.

The current state of the kitchen

Almost there

This was earlier today. Paul was hanging the doors on the cupboards he hung today. I really can't wait for the kitchen to be finished. Although when thats done he will start with the painting the inside of the house. He saw some ivory white tiles which he thought would look awesome with the Cherry wood finish in the kitchen. I have to agree, although I haven't seen them, it sounds stunning.

Progress report

Paul is still ahead of shedule and expects to be a day ahead by the end of tomorrow. We went shopping for the handles to the cupboards which was good. Also got some butlery trays for the drawers and a spice rack which fits into the drawer. My folks brought us dinner br well which was a real blessing.
