Paul’s back and Baby’s healthy!

Well, after what seemed a long time, I have my dear husband back at home, safe and sound, and narrowly escaping the floods that seem to have hit the UK. On Saturday I managed to get an appointment with my hairdresser, and she cut my hair into the funky new hairstyle I have now, which is great, and I love it. Good new is so does Paul (whew!). Then I went to visit my folks at the coffee shop to wait for Paul to get back. His flight from Heathrow was delayed by an hour due to the floods that were starting already. He eventually landed in Durban at about 11:30am and I was very pleased to have him home safely. We popped into the shops to get some lunch, and then home, where he showed off the pictures from his trip, and then had a lovely sleep almost all afternoon.

Sunday was a busy morning, with our home group on Food station duty at church. It was the last time that we as a group will be on duty, as the group is now, sadly, disbanded, to make way for the new Life Groups that are starting within the church. Then it was up the hill to visit Dad and Peggy. It was a lovely relaxing day, and we both fell asleep for most of the afternoon.

This morning was the second scan… Dr C was a little late; he had to deliver a baby at 4am this morning so I think it was alright. Then it was the scan, and we saw our lil one again. It has grown so much and measures 6.34cm from crown to rump, and Dr said that it is healthy and everything is looking good. Baby was moving around a lot, and we got to see it putting it’s hand up a few times, as well it’s little knees all pulled up, and of course it was arching it’s back, and active – definitely Paul’s child. I have uploaded copies of the scan here.

Updates...

Alright, so, I told you about the budgies, and the fact that I got a nest box for them… Since then, Baby G died, and I have still put the box into the cage, which is causing some issues… Baby Blue and Greenie are fighting over who should get the box, however, Blue Boy seems to think Baby Blue should get it, since he’s madly in love with her!

The pregnancy is progressing nicely and I am 12 weeks already! Can you believe it? The time is just flying by. My tum is starting to show now, and I’m looking forward to the next scan which is on Monday 23 July. I read a lot about the development of our lil one, and it is amazing the miracle that God performs, every day, creating a child from “nothing”. I am excited to say that I am also surrounded by friends who are amazing, with advice, and just to look up to as role models.

The wedding was amazing. The photo shoot went well, and Nicole saw the pictures yesterday and was bowled away. I was very relieved that she loves them, and Dad is helping out by allowing me to print a CD for her, to make it look lovely. It was an amazing experience. It’s weird to be at a wedding, but not to be involved in it, but to purposefully remove yourself and watch for reactions and events to capture them as timeless memories of one of the most special days of someone’s life. It was a privilege to be able to be in that position. Tomorrow I get to give Nicole the final product and I can’t wait.

Paul has been away for over a week now, and there are only 2 more sleeps till he gets back. I can’t wait! I have missed him terribly, and in the moments when the hormones kick in and I can’t keep from bawling my eyes out, I really wished he was here, but I am sure that I will have plenty of TLC when he gets back. I hope I can sleep in Friday night with all the excitement of him getting back. I don’t think that he will be able to sleep much on the plane, so I will probably have a bit of a zombie for a husband on Saturday.

Please keep my in your prayers, as I am hoping to have my photography at a stage where I earn enough through it, to be able to stay home with our baby. I know that God can do this for me, and I am trusting that He will provide.

Nicole & Dale’s Wedding

Saturday 07-07-2007 was a happy day for Nicole and Dale. I was lucky enough to be the photographer for their wedding and it was a blast.

I was nervous about a week before the wedding, but on the day I was just excited for them and couldn’t wait to see Nicole all dolled up! And boy oh boy was she looking lovely. Some people who have seen a few pictures say that they didn’t even recognize her.

Paul and I got there just before 14:00 to start with some pictures at her parents home, and it was fun to watch them getting ready. Then we scooted off to the church to get ready, and get some pictures there of Dale, looking very nervous. I was getting worried that Dale would be late and not Nicole, but he got there first.

After rushing to grab some pictures of Nicole getting out of the car, it was all systems go from there. The ceremony was lovely, and the minister spoke well. It was nerve wracking thinking that I might miss something, but I think I managed to get almost everything. There are things that are different at all weddings and it makes for a much more exciting day.

The group shots went quickly and easily, and I almost felt like I was just running a production line, but then it was off to the gardens at Steinbank Nature Reserve for the photo’s. The light, although difficult was stunning, and I think God for giving me that light to make the pictures I was able to capture even more beautiful. We had to work quickly and managed to get enough pictures to hopefully make Nicole a happy customer.

I enjoyed the experience, and I think that I could really do this more often. Now just to find some more people getting married so that I can get into it more.
